I have been traveling trough Vietnam last week and wanted to share my experience. Vietnam is a land of diversity, and the two cities i visited embody its contrasting charm. From the coastal energy of Hai Phong to the timeless elegance and city energy of Hanoi, these destinations offer a unique journey filled with culture, history, and unforgettable experiences.
Hai Phung is know as a coastal gem and i can see that from a tourist perspective. from my perspective it’s a manufacturing hub. Nestled on Vietnam’s northeastern coastline, Hai Phong is often referred to as the “City of Red Flamboyant Flowers” due to its fiery blooms in the summer. As a major port city, it pulsates with industrial vigor yet holds on to its charm through historical sites and vibrant local culture. If you are a tourist I’d recommend places like Đồ Sơn Beach which known for its golden sands and calm waves. There’s also Cát Bà Island which is the gateway to the stunning Lan Ha Bay. However, for my trip I did not get to experience this side of Hai Phung. I was working in factories setting up new manufacturing lines for my company. What I did experience was the friendly people and delicious food the city has to offer.
A few hours west of Hai Phong lies Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital. It is a city steeped in history yet buzzing with modern life. Known for its tree-lined boulevards, ancient temples, and bustling street life, Hanoi is a harmonious blend of the past and present.
There is so much to see while your there that a few days is not enough. You have the Old Quarter where I stayed which is what I would consider the soul of city. It is a maze of streets offers a sensory overload of sights, sounds, and smells. From historic shop-houses to street food stalls, it’s a vibrant experience. There’s also Hoàn Kiếm Lake which is at the heart of the city. This iconic lake is surrounded by legends and provides a tranquil escape. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is another location you can’t miss with a solemn yet fascinating site that pays tribute to Vietnam’s revolutionary leader. I could not get enough of this city and food. My favorite part was the food with famous Phở, Bún Chả, croissants and egg coffee you can’t go wrong.
