My therapist brought in 2 teddy bears to our session this week. A big teddy representing the adult part & a small teddy representing the child part. Is it awkward to ask if she could give me a small teddy? Would she?

It’s fair game to ask her for the small teddy bear, or for whatever you want, really. It’s also appropriate for your therapist to want to explore your request and your feelings about it with you. So… go ahead and bring it up. You might not get a teddy bear out of it… but it’s reasonable to expect you’ll get a fruitful conversation that possibly leads to some deep healing for you. And… that deep healing is what you’re in therapy for, right?
