Happy Sunday from this newbie who's actually an "oldbie" and finding her way around again - one creaky step at a time! (And thank heavens for wonderful friends like @bluefinstudios, @dreemsteem and @saffisara answering questions like... how do I sign in, and how do I add a photos again?)

It's a joy to be back and finding more wonderful faces from five years ago... and I can't wait to meet new faces too.

As I've been away for so long, here's a quick refresher... and update. On here I go by Eveningart - or Evie, if you see me hanging around on discord. A lot has changed in the last 5 years. Back then, I'd just left full time employment to chase life as a writer and I was living in Devon, UK.

Well, gentle reader - I'm still a writer, but I'm not chasing anymore! I was lucky enough to snag a traditional publishing contract back in 2019, with my debut arriving in 2020.

Right. In. The. Middle. Of. The. Pandemic.

After chasing the dream for a long time, I discovered that I don't like traditional publishing. At all. I love things to be fast-paced. Even more than that... I love to be in control. When you're with one of the big publishers - you're definitely not in control... and they're soooooo slooooooooooooow! My solution? Indie publishing all the way. And with 31 books launched in just 3 years... I think I've found my stride!

There's tons of other stuff that has happened since I last saw you too - and I'll dive into it all in future posts - but as a very quick pootle through half a decade...

    • published 31 romances under a top secret pen name.
    • got diagnosed with breast cancer and went through treatment - kept writing and publishing.
    • bought my first house and relocated to a windswept Scottish island (see my photo of the sunset from my back garden!)
    • lost my wonderful dad last year on my 39th birthday. The original Boogie Druid always had a flair for the dramatics... I miss him.
    • turned 40 with a ridiculous amount of gratitude.

Life is strange and funny and odd and precious. I'm excited to be back to share bits of it and peep into your worlds too.

    Until tomorrow,

    Evie xx
