103 million per year
That is the money that DAZN at this point pays for the television rights for one season. Peanuts compared with what is paid in the United Kingdom or Spain and Germany. But of the highest importance for the football clubs. Without the TV money the clubs would not be able to survive.
Because of that the bid for the rights for the next five seasons is the most important thing happening right now in the Belgian football scene.
The Pro League hopes to get more than the current 103 million per year. But the trend in Europe is going downhill. The French league only got half of the billion EUR they were hoping for, and als in Germany the the TV rights sold for 12 % less than the years before…
Very curious what will happen, but if they get more, they are closing the gap with other European leagues. Which would make the competition stronger!
A very important factor for Belgian football clubs!
