So, random fact of the day: sumo wrestlers actually don’t live as long as most people, and it’s kinda sad but makes sense when you think about it. 💭 They put on a ton of weight ON PURPOSE so they can, like, be better in the ring, but that extra weight comes with serious health risks. Like, think heart issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, joint pain—the whole nine yards. 💔
And it doesn’t stop there. After they retire, it’s even harder ‘cause they’re not training all the time anymore but are still carrying all that weight. A lot of them struggle with things like sleep apnea (super bad for your heart and breathing) and sometimes even depression ‘cause adjusting to life after being in the spotlight isn’t easy.
Basically, sumo wrestling is awesome to watch but kinda brutal on their bodies. Makes you realize that no sport is worth wrecking your health over!
