Running Validator Node for Splinterlands SPS
This week I have started running a Validator node with my local machine.
Machine
I have a Jetson Xavier NX Developer kit.
- 6-core NVIDIA Carmel ARM v8.2 64-bit CPU
- 8 GB 128 bit LPDDR4x memory
- 500 GB SSD
Setup up
Linux
My linux install went well due to Nvidia having Ubuntu images downloadable. This machine uses an SD card to boot from. I then moved the kernel from SD to SSD hard drive to allow booting from the SSD.

Setting it up took a bit of work due to my machine being of the Aarch64 architecture. This took a special configuration change to get the install files to get to work. 10-15 installs and lots of Google and discord reading. Thanks to @steemitromney @mightpossibly for their work on Rasberry PI which also worked for the Jetson NX.

Notes for ARM64 and Aarch64 machines
Second node
After getting my node up and running I was able to install another copy of the software to allow my brother to run his 3 licenses on my box. This took several configuration changes to get the software to not step on the first installation. Each of these installs are done under standard user accounts to reduce the risk of security issues.
Notes for setting up second node on machine
I has been a great learning experience to get back into using Linux and getting some use out of my Jetson box. The box has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years waiting for a good project.
Background
I have been playing Splinterlands since 2021 and I currently run a Chaos Legions silver deck fighting brawls and battles. I attended Splinterfest in Las Vegas and met many of the OG's of splinterlands. I bought my Lux Vega Summoner which is my goto max summoner for most battles. I own 21 plots of land in Region 40 Rutherford that are producing grain and will soon produce Wood and Stone.
I play Genesis League goals and own a couple of validator nodes for that game also. Waiting for them to come online so I can run those also on my home setup. Arcade Colony is a go-cart racing game which I also support.
