Hiding In The Fog

In this week’s Battle Mage Secrets, we look at the Fog of War ruleset and see what strategy works when all units lose their Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity abilities. Scattershot will still work, though.

For this battle, I've gone with Alric Stormbringer as my summoner because I want his +1 magic boost.
1st position - Furious Chicken - Some buffer for 0 mana to protect my units at the back.
2nd position - Ruler of the Seas - Its explosive ability will be my main strategy. It effectively does 5 damage per round.
3rd position - Musa Saline - Scavenge ability will be useful in a low mana battle that could possibly include low mana units that die off easily.

My approach to the fog of war is to typically hide my main attackers at the back behind a tank. But in a low mana fog of war battle, I typically use a furious chicken just to absorb 1 or 2 hits and then try to use explosion as much as possible. Why explosion? Because it takes out 2 opponents at once.

By round 2, my main attacker, the Ruler of the Seas had been killed. Not a good sign and I wasn't confident that Musa Saline could hold her ground. What was helping was the Scavenge ability which helped to pad her health as opponent units got vanquished.

Down to my opponent's last unit and there was a magic attack, speed and health advantage. So I knew that victory would soon be mine.

Hope you enjoyed this battle and consider using some Explosions in your next Fog of War battle to target more than one opponent at a time. See you in the next Battle Mage Secrets.
