Little Slimey's Pick of the Week | Baron Fyatt

While doing research on what unit might be a good thing to post, Baron Fyatt attracted my attention. This promo unit is a limited purchase in celebration of Bitcoin's halving event last year. Actually. what made me attracted to this unit is that for a unit that's supposed to be special, Baron Fyatt seems.... weak. I've used a number of units that looked weak based on stats and abilities but did a lot well in practice. Let's see if this is one of those units or Baron Fyatt is really as weak as he looks.

    Lore

This rebellion is getting out of hand, but Baron Fyatt, Lord High Treasurer in charge of the Chaos Empire’s fiscal policies, has a plan: a 50% tax levied against all sales, income, and net worth.

Taxes collected in native coinages are to be melted down and reminted as Chaos marks. With less coins like the Gloridax auro and Anumian crown in circulation, their value will plummet. The rebels and their sympathizers will find themselves unable to fund their little uprising, and it will fizzle out in no time. The baron will be hailed a hero.

    Stats

    Baron Fyatt.jpg

Baron Fyatt is an interesting unit to use. I really like that they gave him magic attack so his hits won't miss and he could apply Halving ability consistently. Scattershot, on the other hand, has both its perks and cons. It gives him insane chance to attack different targets each round which means Halving can also apply to different units in each round. On the other hand, depending on your luck, Baron Fyatt may not be able to hit the unit you want to half the damage at all. Just like crypto and bitcoin, while there are skills involved to make your investments as successful as possible, at the end of the day, it's all about luck.

    Abilities

    IconNameDescription
Halving.pngHalvingThe first time this Unit hits a target, that target's attack is cut in half (rounded up).
Scattershot.pngScattershotRanged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.
Ambush.pngAmbushThis Unit gets to act before the battle begins.

    Good Rules to Consider

    IconNameReason
Wands Out.pngWands OutOnly units with magic attacks may be used.
Baron Fyatt's Halving ability can affect any unit attacks. Baron Fyatt's Halving ability is very good in Wands Out rule where you can further control your enemy's attacks with Void and Taunt.
Fog of War.pngFog of WarUnits lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities.
Scattershot still works in Fog of War rule unlike Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity. This makes Baron Fyatt a good candidate in this rule where having Tank Heal units are placed safely at the back.
Explosive Weaponry.pngExplosive WeaponryAll units have Blast (deals an additional 50% damage to units adjacent to the target, rounded up).
I've recently got hooked with Chaos Dragon's style of battling where you have a unit with both Scattershot and Blast giving you a huge AOE attack. This is the same idea but instead of Chaos Dragon, you have Baron Fyatt with Scattershot and Blast abilities.

    Bad Rules to Think Twice

    IconNameReason
aimless.pngAimlessAll units with magic and ranged attacks have Scattershot (magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit).
While you can still use Baron Fyatt in this rule, it's still a huge demerit since the rule does not work with him since he already have it.\
Equalizer.pngEqualizerThe initial Health of all Units is equal to that of the Units on either team with the highest base Health.
You would want units with high attack but low health In Equalizer. Units like Kain Hace fits best in this rule but not units like Baron Fyatt who only have 2 magic damage.
back to basics.pngBack to BasicsUnits lose all abilities.
In Back to Basics rule, Baron Fyatt has more problems. Not only his damage is bad but also his other stats. This makes him a really bad unit to use in Back to Basics rule.

    Battle

    Link to battle

Use the Equal Opportunity Rule in my favor by using Crypt Beetle as the bait then Baron Fyatt slowly Halving all of the enemy unit's attacks. If done properly, this should give my units a huge edge in damage. Even before the battle, Baron Fyatt already applied the Halving to Venari Knifer which made his attacks ineffective to Crypt Beetle. The second attack went to Regal Peryton and the third attack hit Mycelic Slipspawn. I got huge advantage because of these three attacks which made me the winner in the end.

I got quite lucky this week getting a number of consecutive wins. With just less than 10 battles, I was able to rank up to Silver 2. It's almost 20 days since I first made this account so my rentals when I got the account will be ending soon. I wonder if I can still get to this point without renting too much?
