In this week’s Battle Mage Secrets, we look at the Healed Out ruleset and see what strategy works when all healing abilities are removed from battle. This applies to both units and summoners.
For this battle, I've gone with Alric as my summoner because I want that +1 magic boost, but also because there aren't that many good healing units in the Water Splinter, unlike say the Life splinter.
1st position - Furious Chicken - Some buffer for my rear units and also since this is a snipe battle, I expect it to only get hit by the front attacker.
2nd position - Albatross - A cheap filler card to absorb damage in second place from Snipe attacks.
3rd position - Ruler of the Seas - In a snipe battle, explosive damage is a killer.
4th position - Riverboat Captain - Like the Ruler of the Seas, only with less health and slower.
5th position - Scavo Technomancer - Even more explosive damage to add to the fun. Not a lot of health so could be vulnerable.
With no healing allowed, the important thing to focus on in my opinion, is to do heavy damage as quick as possible and have decent health for your units as possible as there's no turning back. With Snipe being part of the ruleset, doing lots of damage is possible with the Explosion ability.
The battle was going was going quite well with only one problem, my opponent's Cursed Windeku was hard to take out with its high health. Could pose a problem if it takes out one of my main two attackers.
But thanks to a missed attack, I managed to hold on long enough for the Ruler and the Riverboat Captain to do their damage and take out the Windeku. You can catch a replay of the entire battle here: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_ff45b618c9ff577f50d2f7f7a7283763&ref=charcoalbuffet
