I became Obsidian fan once I cannot use Alric Stormbringer from the Wild Format because I had to pay extra on top of renting him. I like magic and still like it and this led me to playing Obsidian and Earth element. Slowly but surely, I got tired of playing the same summoners so I wanted to explore and see who else can be a reliable summoner that would complement magic type units. Here, I found Lorkus, the half Fire, half Death summoner that can boost the strength of not only magic but also melee units in battle.
This Week's Theme is…
Units lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities.
Fog of War is a pretty solid rule set because it forces you to rely more on direct attacks rather than other tactics like Sneak. It's a great rule set for magic attacking units as they can be played on any position. While it may be limiting to some, it can also be a great free win as long as you have strong units that you can rely on for tanking your enemies.

Battle Strat: I learned that the higher your unit's health, the higher the heal would be. Using this idea, I added Lorkus's Life Leech and Affliction abilities to Xenith Monk and Usut, which are both units with Heal abilities. I also chose 2 other units with Life Leech while the last unit, except Carrion Shade, have Scavenger. This lineup gives me incredible advantage on long game as each attack adds health to my units making them harder to be killed.
Battle Summary: I had an overwhelming advantage on this game due to my strategy. The Void on Xenith Monk also helped a lot since my enemy used magic attack on most of their units. Even though their Djinn Oshannus counters my magic attacks, I still had the advantage as I gain health every attack increasing the unit's heal.
Lineup and Strategy
|| All friendly Monsters have +1 Melee damage.
|| All friendly Monsters have +1 Magic damage.
Why pick this summoner: Lorkus is an incredible summoner as I was able to do a lot more with him than with Obsidian. The only issue I had was Lorkus is a lot expensive than renting Obsidian. I think I spent more than 300 DEC for renting it for 2 days. It was worth it though but really expensive especially if I would be using it each week.
|| Restores a third of the max health to this Unit's health each round.
|| Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.
|| When hit with a Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.
Why pick this unit: Xenith Monk is one of my standard tanks. He doesn't cost a lot of mana to use which is good so I can use stronger units at the back. Xenith Monk's Void and Health are also good for its mana and the Heal complements Lorkus's Life Leech which I like a lot.
|| Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the flying ability.
Why pick this unit: I put Carrion Shade in front of Usut in case Xenith Monk dies. This is to buy a bit more time before Usut's turn as a tank. With Lorkus's Life Leech, Usut gains health every attack and giving him a round increases my chance of winning.
|| Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the flying ability.
|| Every time this Unit defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.
|| Does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks or weapons training.
|| Restores a third of the max health to this Unit's health each round.
Why pick this unit: Usut is probably my most favorite unit in Modern League. Not only Usut has Heal, he also gets Bloodlust that can increase his stats at every kill. If you factor in Lorkus's abilities on top of that, you could say that he's a really strong unit that can heal at every round.
|| Unit's health increases each time it damages an enemy Unit's health by half the damage dealt.
|| When this Unit dies, it does 1 damage to all enemy Units.
Why pick this unit: A low mana unit that's strong with that little boost of damage from Lorkus. At 3 magic damage, he increases his health by 2 due to Life Leech.
|| Unit's health increases each time it damages an enemy Unit's health by half the damage dealt.
|| Attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.
|| When this Unit hits an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy.
Why pick this unit: Same with Life Sapper but a bit more kick. The Poison is good for that extra damage while Dispel is useful in controlling the enemy's positive buff keeping my lead on this game.
|| When this unit hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.
|| This Unit cannot be directly targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position.
|| Attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.
|| Gains 1 max health each time any Unit dies.
|| Reduces the health of all enemy Units by 1.
Why pick this unit: Doctor Blight is a good addition to this team. Like Venari Bonesmith, he has Poison. The Camouflage is also really strong because my enemy needs to kill off all of my units before they can fight Doctor Blight. With all of these Life Leech, it would take a long game to do that.
Summary
I am really happy to expand my wings. The opportunity to play other units than Earth element. I realized that I was doing it the wrong way and I thought sticking to what I know can take me far. By using Lorkus, I not want to try and learn other strategies from other elements. For now, my goal will be Diamond and keep advancing little by little.
