Scenes for a Morning Run

I like to get out for a morning run every couple of days, of late this hasn't quite been successful, the return to the office means 35 minutes sitting in a car rather than the non-existent commute to my kitchen table.

But this morning I did manage to head out. It's edging towards winter here in Melbourne, Australia so it's starting tog et cold - not by global standards, but by Australian standards. Winter in Melbourne is generally dry, sunny and cloudless mornings, normally about 5-6 degrees before warming up to maybe 12 or so.

So when I leave the house it's just after sunrise so the sky is often pink - the first scene the sky reflected in the windows of this old brick warehouse

Running through the streets I head up towards the hospitals, past the nurses and other medical staff in their scrubs making their way through the streets, about a 1km into my run I make it to the park, a nice big circlular path about 1.2km long to run around, no cars, just other runners, and people taking dogs for a walk, occasionally one will run with me, mostly they are more interested in running after other dogs.

And more often than not I see the hot Air balloons, making there trip across Melbourne, they can be close, landing or taking off in this park, or far depending on the wind, this morning they were floating from the south west to the north east.

From the park, it back into the streets of North Melbourne, winding my way back on different streets than the outward journey and ending somewhere near home, for a short cooldown walk and then home to stretch. I normally avoid the main street - Errol Street, too many people, and too many delivery vans this time of the morning, too many people carrying tables across the footpath to set up the outdoor dining, better to duck between the shops, cut through the back alleys, look up and see the jumble of red brick buildings.
