Essentially, the general premiss, of any logistics ship, is that one, must evaluate the cargo from point, to point, and then, most importantly what the return cargo is going to be, as any trucker, or sailor, of any logistic ship knows, you never set sail for a destination without knowing what your obtaining to carry back the other way, never travel with an empty truck, never travel with an empty hull, and, farm goods, key to it all, everyone needs to eat, everyone needs to drink, everyone needs to smoke, everyone needs that new Gameboy advance! Or otherwise.
So, I loaded up Port Royale 3, quality title, in its day, dated now, but quite a good game, still learning the HUD, on that note, inspired by the album I am presently listening to, Cruachan – Folk-Lore, may I say, if you ever want a laugh, listen to the fishermen out in the Irish Sea, they leave their comms wide open, and I have spent many a night in, laughing to all their antics, good people, very funny, if you want a bit of real talk comedy.
That aside, we often think of logistic ships, as only logistic ships, and we often think of ocean liners as only ocean liners, stands to reason, with a view of profitability and economic development of the various companies there are, just slight tweaks, with a tad of marketing, that could, increase profits for this sector and these companies.
Simply put, and it’s a very easy equation, Logistics craft, sail through storms, no fear, efficiency, and they often, will ride some of the roughest waves, the scariest waves, the scariest storms, yet, there are cruise line or ocean line demographics, that actually love and live for that experience, the “storm chaser demographics”
And also, these ships often run with “skeleton crew” well, if, you were looking at a trade, that meant you were cargo light, or cargo empty, what you could do, would be slightly modify the ship, to have a luxury and amenity area, similar to a cruise ship, and then, you could appeal and raise revenue, from the part of the cruise market that actually like sailing through rough weather (like myself – its like a science experiment) and on the counterpoint, to the cruise sector, you can do the same with your ships, when the bookings are light for a voyage, work out supply chain solutions, to trade, on those fronts.
It is a fun concept, to those that are a fan of Trucking Simulator, or games such as myself for the Naval inclined, Port Royale 3, and such similar games, you actually, can overlay these games in a variety of interesting ways, to add gamification to them, to test in real time, or practice time, or some derivation from, actual trades, actual paths, and that way, instead of us all being slightly bored, with our regular charts and projections, we could play games, in our downtime, of a similar theme, overlayed with real market economics, and test our theories, or nature, or ambition, or whatever it happens to be, before we actually do it, thus, not causing any systemic destruction to our logistics lines, or cruise lines, or ocean liners, by way, of testing these things, but also, potentially aggregating data, learning things, and testing them, to improve all our companies within the sector.
Now, many of the old ship types, they don’t like, and Logistics and Cruise, this is a problem for us friends, we need to find a way to adapt, and improve our vessels to accommodate for this, strictly speaking from a PR point of view, but do not be feint of heart, this is an achievable goal, if you have ever been embarrassed, afraid, or otherwise working for such companies, with such vitriolic comments coming back, its ok, I got you.
Yes yes yes, I talk about a lot of space projects and things like that, but that’s future stuff, perhaps for my children to look after, myself, I am interested in the logistics supply chain solution of earth as it sits now, vital infrastructure, and people, shall always travel by sea, not only for cost, but also for the love of the environment, there will never be a time, Naval does not exist, and there will never be a time there is not a crew and a captain, just in in law, you always need, a magistrate, for judgement, computers get things wrong.
Not financial advice, but speaking for myself, logistics supply chain, will be my primary first place of investment, with, consideration to, how to improve our vessels, on either side, logistics and cruise, I have touted some ideas, about military things in the past, I mean perhaps that could be discussed hypothetically with Canberra to sort it out at some stage, or various governments, but end of the day, a good captain, doesn’t even need weapons to formulate a strategy.
I have some interesting ideas for ships, and how we improve them, at present, we design the ships in traditional format, which is fine, but, if we were to adopt, expand, the Europeans have basically roll cage technology for small ships, we simply expand this, and build upon it, and then through modifications of adapting automotive technology, the stuff our trucking part of logistics understand, and form there, we develop advanced ships, now, then, our ships would not end up looking Aesthetic to taste, which none of us would like, however, adopting gamer technology, or ideology, well, then we need a “skin” so its easy, you just build the ship as it needs to be, to do what it needs to do, then you build a frame of Aesthetics around it, to look, like a regular ship, and at that way, to use a gaming reference, its very similar in concept to the idea of Eve Online with a Pod and Ship – but invert it – the Pod, is the ship, the Ship is the Skin, not to high brow chaps? Pretty straight forward really.
And just an interesting concept, from my brief time trying to understand the hud of Port Royale 3, when you press the spacebar, you accelerate, cool, when you press the button on ships, you could use rockets right? Or, sonic engines, it’s the ocean, no noise complaints out there, so, if we used, Airforce technology and blended it with Navy technology, we could create, ultra fast, logistic ships, which, would improve profits substantially, even if, only running at a quatre of that, I was on the Splendor, she pulls 32 knotts, at best, add some Airforce turbine technology, and we could be pushing much higher knotts, and thus, get a UVP on other logistics lines.
But please ! we have to have a chat with the Asian cultures and get some good egg noodle and fried rice on board, you know, when I was on those voyages, no egg noodle? Its literally my favourite, and very popular among people, as is, fried rice, and there are a lot of Asian cultures, who are citizens of the commonwealth, and particularly of Australia, Asian food is Delicious! Absolutely so, so yeah, Logistics, and Cruise, we got this, cruise I cant invest in, you don’t pay dividends, but logistics do, so, full sails chaps, will be investing in all of you, lets make it better, and lets help the world, but, we have to clean up, and improve our ships Lords & Ladies, were hurting the environment, but we can fix it, and we have the money to, and we can come back, cleaner, faster, stronger than ever.
Will sailing technology ever be redundant? No, because you are always going to need it, for exoplanetary colonization, so if we develop it here now, we can learn from our mistakes, improve our technology, and apply it, to a better outcome elsewhere.
Logistics is often undermined, the reality is the truth, factually, without trucks, Australia stops, without Ships Australia stops, without Aircraft Australia stops, and it never can, because, we are, the commonwealth, thus, it is vital, critical infrastructure and all participating in those three spheres, at peak efficiency, support, the military in ways, that are beyond comprehension, it is actually, aside from the military proper, the actual, most important part of infrastructure, if the soldiers can eat, they die, if you cant get parts, cant repair, and on and on and on, it is, a military branch, and personally, Australia, I am going to fix it for you.
But yeah, we gotta get some egg noodles, seriously, was so weird, you go on a southern hemisphere cruise, entire ship crewed by staff of Asian culture, and yet, no noodles? How does that even make sense, not even a spring roll, tip of the hat to Uncle Roger, everybody likes noodles, there are only two types of people, people who love noodles, and liars! Everybody likes egg noodle.
