NC district that has been "blue" for 140 years might flip red this year

This information of course could very well be tainted by the well that is statistics gathering but as someone that lives near the area in question, I can say with some level of certainty that the claim of people being fed up with the same ol' same ol' promises from Democrats has finally started to wear at a lot of the inhabitants of the district in question.

One of the more populated areas of this district is Rocky Mount (yes, that is the name of a city) and it is a very depressing place to drive through, which is really the only thing that a majority of people in this state have to do with that place. The people that live there likely don't actually want to live there (this is completely my opinion) because there is virtually no industry there, and once you get off the path of the main road that goes through the city, they don't really seem to even care what the place looks like.

Because this is a relatively low-population part of the state, the district extends quite far, all the way to the coast where the financial situation of the inhabitants differs greatly.

Over on the coast at the expensive areas of Nags Head and Duck in particular, the population is 50% permanent residents and 50% people that own vacation properties on the Outer Banks, which is an environmental disaster of sorts that I talk about regularly. The people in wealthy vacation areas are upset with Democrat leadership for different reasons and whether their standpoint is justified or not, it remain that many of the people blame the dramatic drop in tourism, and therefore money, on the overall decline of the economy in the past 4 years.

Outside of these 2 beach towns, this is one of the poorest districts in all of North Carolina, and Conservatives have made some headway to suggest that the reason why this never changes is because the district continues to elect Democrat leaders over and over again.

Now, I am a conservative and can't imagine ever voting for a Democrat, but even I would look around in my life and perhaps at least consider the possibility that if I was electing the same group over and over and over and over again and nothing ever improved, maybe I am helping the problem to continue by never doing anything different. You know what they say: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results."

This year the seat for Congress (House) is considered up for grabs for the first time in a while. With the incumbent Don Davis trying very hard to put some virtual distance between him and Joe Biden. Just like most other places in the sensible world, the people in this district as well as the rest of North Carolina see Joe Biden as a puppet President who isn't really making and real decisions on his own. He is seen as senile and useless and the other candidates that share the party with him are for the most part, distancing themselves from them.

On the other hand, the person who is running against Don Davis is also not talking about Trump a great deal because we have yet another Presidential election where siding with any one of them can result in the opposite party wanting to have nothing to do with you.

Col. Laurie Buckhout is polling very close to 50% in this district and is really trying to get the vote out for an election that many people often don't really pay a great deal of attention to. One of the things she has working against her is that she is white, and this district is primarily black. Say what you will about this, but African-Americans tend to vote Democrat by a margin of 80% to 20% conservative, but recent trends have seen this changing a bit and I am not going to pretend to know why - perhaps it has to do with malaise associated with Joe Biden.

It will be interesting to see if she can pull this off though, because flipping a district that hasn't voted your way in nearly 150 years, well that would be interesting indeed.
