Are Democrats Waging War on America Now? links to Tucker Carlson’s 6/11/24 interview with Steve Bannon, former White House Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to President Trump. Bannon was sentenced to prison starting July 1 for four months. Bannon who hosts Bannon’s War Room podcast, discusses his sentence for his conviction on two counts of contempt of Congress in 2022 when he refused to answer questions from the House January 6 Committee.
Bannon explained that in 2012, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder refused to provide Justice Department documents about the Fast and Furious scandal. When Holder cited executive privilege, he was held in criminal contempt, but the Justice Department (which Holder led) didn’t prosecute him. Bannon also invoked executive privilege, but he was convicted on two counts of contempt and was ordered to report to prison.
Bannon warned,
This is a misdemeanor. When we were in the federal courthouse, the guy that ran the courthouse said he had never seen a misdemeanor go to trial…. So, I think we're heading towards a constitutional crisis this country has never had before….. They want to send me to prison in July to make sure some of the strongest of President Trump's advocates are taken off the playing field. They want him remanded on the afternoon of July 11th. They don't want him to go to the Republican Convention. Stand on that stage and before the world take the nomination so hard fought for.
On June 11, Bannon asked the court to rule on his appeal by Tuesday, June 18 so he could appeal to the Supreme Court if necessary. Bannon's attorney argued:
The government seeks to imprison Mr. Bannon for the four-month period leading up to the November election, when millions of Americans look to him for information on important campaign issues.
Bannon points out that Peter Navarro made history in March as the first former White House official imprisoned for a contempt of Congress conviction. Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison for his refusal to comply with a subpoena from the J6 House Select Committee. Democrats jailed former NY City Mayor Rudolph Guiliani in August 2023. Giuliani Surrenders at Jail in Georgia Election Case. Giuliani, who served as Trump’s personal lawyer after the 2020 election, called the case “an attack on the American people.” Bannon warned that the Democrats can put anyone in prison now.

When the 2000 election was contested, the Supreme Court decided the outcome. Like many Americans, Trump believed the 2020 election had been stolen. He expected VP Mike Pence to call for a recount on January 6 to resolve the question. However, because Pence refused, the January 6 Committee and DOJ continue to criminalize Americans who went to Washington, DC to support a recount.

The DOJ is making arrests and filing charges at its quickest pace in three years, pushing the expected total up to 2,150 arrests by 2026. In the video below, Hanson warns that in targeting Trump with “lawfare”, America is doing things it has never done before and is destroying confidence in the legal system, the rule of law. Hanson explains that America is also at risk because the Biden administration is failing to address growing threats from China. He shows the US is making mistakes similar to those of nations defeated throughout history.
