POEM: Dream Driver

in poetry •  4 months ago

    The windshield wipers sway
    like arched angel wings
    searching for extremes

    I search too
    like a pondering pebble
    skimming rainbows of a dream

    Prism pigments
    overlapped like feathers
    inspected for flight

    I buckle my synapses
    passing on
    from dust into light

    Behind the messenger
    rests packages tucked
    into their route

    Behind my chest
    sleeps a heart
    yearning for something new

    The dusty box
    like scattered light
    illuminating space

    Lands from a distance
    to my grateful hands
    searching for a new taste
