#819 - Vigan Ilocos Sur shots for Monday.
Gloomy evening dear Hiveans. It's my second day of off so early morning my wife and I went to the sports center in the town proper for a quick walk. We got there by six in the morning because of traffic since it's the first day of work for most and people are up early too to avoid the traffic jams. We spent an hour there doing rounds in the oval and also on the stair cases of viewers seats. It was an exhausting morning. Then after that we went out to eat in a carinderia beside in an alley way. We ordered two goto with eggs and pork with tofu. Then we went to the market to buy a pig hind leg which is more than two kilos and then also a kilo of pork meat which we cooked later in the day for lunch and dinner too.
And now for our daily shots we got here as I mentioned previously some shots when we went to Ilocos Norte and on our way there we have to pass by the southern Ilocos. We arrived at the arc which serves a sign of the beginning of the Ilocos Sur territory around past five in the morning. We stopped by for some photos as a remembrance that we arrived and about to start exploring the province. It was still a bit of dark then so there's many light going on with the arc. We got several photos of our selves.
Me the wife and my son who finally come to join us for a two nights of adventure at the northern edge of the country.
Then after almost two more hours of ride we have finally reached the Ilocos city called Vigan which is just a stop for us since our destination is the north most part which is Ilocos Norte and that's about four more hours from here haha. That's when we started exploring the famed plaza after eating breakfast, we saw a calesa carriage carried by a small horse.
We also made a stop in the middle of the plaza where there's a stage with words Viva Vigan. Just on the side of the stage are comfort rooms which is accessible to visitors and tourists. We had a delicious cheap breakfast so we had energy to explore.
We got here line of calesa carriage with the horses and drivers. They are all waiting for tourists to get up there and tour the streets of the Spanish era city
We started walking the famed Calle Crisologo which is the main street to be exact during the era this town was flourishing with the Spanish conquistadors.
Then there's this famed lady of this town who's figure has been erected here in the Calle Crisologo. The lady named Leona Florentino and she's a local who was a poet and writer from a wealthy family. I believe she used her abilities to fight the oppression of the Spaniards back then.
The ancestral houses are still kept in great shape up to this day. There's some of the buildings also under restoration and renovation to make it more rigid for the next earthquake which hass caused a lot of damaged to the historical sites of this city.
Follow me on my nature travels.
