A quick look over Heidelberg

If you are traveling to Heidelberg by car, for example from Basel, it takes around 2.5 hours, along the A5, A656 Darmstadt-Karlsruhe, Basel freeway. Once here, a beautiful bridge, historic buildings, churches and more invite you on a journey into the past. In the background, Heidelberg Castle is probably the most famous ruin in the world. The castle ruins was made of red sandstone and lie high above the hill, surrounded by green forest, overlooks the view of the old town and along the banks of Neckar River.

The oldest sandstone bridge over the Neckar river was built by Elector Karl Theodor about 18th century. It connects the old town with the part of the city Neunheim. The original version of today's Old Bridge was constructed using wood. However, they were repeatedly destroyed by wars and floods until the 18th century.

One of the most modern cable cars in Germany, it starts in the Old Town and runs via the castle station to Molkenkur. From there, you can take the oldest electric cable car to the highest point in the city of over 550 meters altitude. I will try it out next time.
