Here you can see some artifacts from ancient Egypt which I recently photographed and present various works by blacksmiths that were already known for metalworking in Egypt thousands of years ago. The ancient Egyptians were considered very revolutionary and this is also reflected in this area and there were already different techniques that facilitated the art of blacksmithing and traditionally not only raw metal but heat was used to be able to shape the works better and the works often had a high cultural value. Even when it comes to mining, the Egyptians already had huge knowledge and knew how to mine precise metals and were always looking to expand their knowledge in this area and looked a lot of new minerals which could be used as ore which led to an enormous collection of knowledge over time and trade also had a high priority and because of the good connections, the Egyptians also operated mining in other countries and exporting various ores because there was often a shortage of certain minerals. The blacksmiths had already different types for the refinement of metals and were able to produce alloys through different mixtures and through later research, it was possible to find out the exact mixing ratio of the different metals and this also had an effect on the durability of the works and it was possible to process the metals better. In addition to the production of daily objects, it was also about producing weapons or jewellery and for the production of jewellery had gold a great significance and the works developed into a coveted status object which were especially popular with pharaohs and to honor the great cult of the gods, statues, masks or other art objects were also made of precious metals which were often consecrated to the gods. In general, it was believed that metal was a gift from the gods and in ancient Egypt there was no protective god of blacksmiths as in other cultures but in this context, it was particularly Ptah, who is considered the guardian god of the craftsmen and was also often compared to the Greek god of blacksmithing Hephaestus. The ancient Egyptians could already make very fine threads of gold and thus produce precise jewelry and with them and ornaments were also made which are still very admired today and other techniques such as soldering or melting were also used by the blacksmiths and it has developed into one of the most important crafts at that time around which a large market was created. Everywhere in ancient Egypt there were blacksmiths in the villages and different styles have developed and there are discoveries of different compositions of the metals and the diversity of the works inspires numerous archaeologists to this day.
