I've just discovered Hive Recap (thanks to @shanibeer ) and checked my stats.
I can't say I'm too proud, I should've done better. I started the year by publishing my Master's thesis in EU Law, dedicated to MiCA. My thesis accounts for more than half the posts that I've published this year.
But 2024 has also seen the birth of the OffChain Luxembourg project. Our goal is to leverage blockchain technology and crypto currencies in order to contribute to a stronger, more robust society and increased prosperity for the greatest number of people.
The main thesis is derived from observing steem and hive over many years: blockchain communities can foster collaboration and create value on top of and in addition to that being created in the world of laws, contracts and fiat money.
However, the weakness of existing blockchain communities is the absence of personal responsibility and of physical interaction. Actors are anonymous and spread thin all over the globe.
OffChain Luxembourg leverages the good features of Hive:
- fast and free transactions,
- a resilient community that is not obsessed with the zero-sum game of "give me your coin" thanks to the existence of a common budget (the "reward pool")
- human-friendly names
- a reputation system for "avatars"
- an algorithmic stablecoin.
But it adds additional features:
- our members are not anonymous but are staking their own personal reputation.
- we are focusing on a particular geographical context where physical interactions are possible in addition to "on-chain" ones.
- we leverage Hive-Engine for running a "community currency", the OffChain Luxembourg Token (OCLT), in the context of the "Markets in Crypto Assets" (MICA) regulation which brings crypto in Europe in a legal framework
For the OffChain Luxembourg community I created a dedicated account, sorin.offchain, its stats are of course not impressive yet.
OffChain Luxembourg has more than 700 followers on LinkedIn, more than 200 people in an open WhatsApp group, almost 30 paying members, out of whom around 15 are actively contributing, voluntarily, toward the common vision and goals.
