Priorities in life: ME FIRST

in neoxian •  7 days ago

A couple of years ago I saw a video on TikTok titled "One of the Biggest Lies We're Told Is That Blood Makes Us Family" and from then on I began to reflect and recap some "anecdotal" moments that led me to redefine existential priorities, family life and treatment towards friends and acquaintances.

I had already told you about "my daughter borrowed" by life, because being the natural or biological father does not give you privileges or ensure a place of preference in your daughter's "family environment." Perhaps the design for the conception and development of the embryo within the mother for 9 months can create an affective and effective bond of union much greater than with the father who "has only provided a sperm" for the creation of a new "living" being that in current times may not have the values and feelings towards parents rooted as they were in past centuries.

At this stage of life and the technological development of telecommunications, it is inconceivable that a daughter cannot (does not want to) make a video call to see the face of her father with whom she has not had physical contact for 7 years. A sporadic text message and an occasional response to a video sent by her father (almost a month ago) make sense of my reflections on blood ties, blood ties that in the new generation no longer make us family.

I am seriously thinking of freeing her from the possible commitment she feels to respond to a message, because the truth is that it is not life to be pending a sporadic non-spontaneous communication, when my only contribution (according to the person observing from the stands) has been a "male reproductive cell", without considering the 12 years that we shared eventually and sporadically, but in a continuous and planned manner.

Just like the mouse that lives a peaceful life in a mousetrap, but always taking care not to fall into a trap that involves it in a disturbed lifestyle and limited to the actions of other people who do not look out for your sentimental-emotional well-being, but rather each one lives their life in their own way and at their own pace, because I must consider my priorities in life: ME FIRST.
