Here you can see pictures of a hyacinths species and the exact species is grape hyacinth which begins to bloom from about March and forms flowers reminiscent of grapes. Originally it comes from the Orient and during the 16th century it came to Europe and people were so enthusiastic about this new ornamental plant that it was sometimes even treated as a status object and over the centuries it came to the fact that more and more crossings have emerged and it developed into a trend. Presumably, the first plants from the Orient came to France as well as the Netherlands, which was one of the most important centers for the cultivation and distribution of the plant and in old Dutch writings it probably even appears a few centuries earlier and also enjoyed great popularity in the Orient and was cultivated on a large scale. In Greek mythology there is an interesting legend when it comes to the origin and how often in mythology these are said to have originated from drops of blood that once fell to the ground. This tradition probably comes from the well-known poet Ovid and once the god of light Apollon was with his friend Hyacinthus who is also known as the son of the king of the Spartans outside and probably the two were just playing discus, when Apollo had accidentally hit the head and fatally injured him and when his blood fell to the ground, this plant grew out of it. There is another legend in which the two were also playing and the god of the wind Zephyrus was so jealous of the two that he had decided to redirect the discus so that it should hit Hyacinthus and often there is also talk that he and Apollo had fallen in love and he still tried to stop the bleeding and save him but he did not make it and decided to resurrect him from his blood in the form of a plant. By the way, the discus often appears in Greek mythology and was one of the most popular sports in ancient Greece and also responsible for many accidents. Also Greek poet Homer also described the hyacinths and paid particular attention to the enchanting fragrance and it has also inspired other poets and there are also numerous writings or works of art where the plant can be found.
