Sampling is so much fun, especially when you begin to mash up different tracks via the methods of resampling. I love chopping up beats sampled from old vinyl and it also, perhaps more importantly reinstroduced me to some music I've either not heard at all or not in a long time!

My sampling setup comprises of the Roland SP404 mk2 and an Audio Technica turntable, connected via line-in. I sampled a number of tracks into different banks and then chopped each into useful samples. Taking two or three separate samples from one album, I combined them and reversed them, layering on top of this a drum break performed by Max Roach in the 60s. I have no plans to sell this on Spotify, I am just sharing this with you guys to demonstrate how you can create a collage of different recordings.
The drums were performed by Max Roach and the backing music by Crusaders! Imagine if these guys got together for real back in the day! Maybe they did? Great musicians all of them, especially one of my heroes Joe Sample who was one of the main Crusaders band members. His keyboard skills were legendary.
