of mine, and a band who has so many great songs and albums throughout the years. I find myself revisiting them every month or two, often a different era of the band, and discovering things I previously missed, or just reinforcing my belief in their awesomeness. The band was formed in 1973 in Akron, OH, though they didn't release albums until the latter half of the '70s. The band consisted of 2 sets of brothers: Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, and Gerald and Bob Casales, and Alan Meyers for most of their early existence, though there were other people in the group early on, and in the decades since, various players have joined and left the group. Most notably, their permanent drummer from the mid '90s onwards has been legend Josh Freese, who himself grew up a huge Devo fan. While the band is known for their '80s singles (and that synthy era of the band is awesome), their late '70s stuff is incredibly, and so influential, with so many bands from a huge variety of genres citing them as favorites. While they incorporated synths and other electronic sounds earlier, the "rock" elements were still sort of the core of the band, though always with their angular weird signature. This song is from their 1980 album Freedom of Choice; overall, this isn't my favorite album, though it's awesome, but this song is absolutely one of my top 5 Devo tunes.
