Let's spin this bad-boy while I blog about it :D
A few weeks ago I posted about some records I ordered. I made a little contest out of it to see if anyone could guess one of the records, if you remember.
@ironshield guessed the second one correctly, but no one got the first one, and here it is.
Sinatra Collected is a collection of 31 tracks spanning ol' blue eyes more than 5 decades of musical brilliance.
It was pressed on translucent blue vinyl and limited to 10,000 copies. I ended up with #758 as you can see on the sticker above. It's cool to be limited like that but I don't think the low number matters for resale unless it's in the top ten, maybe.
Frank Sinatra died in 1998. I don't know how much performing he did in the last years of his life, but it sure would have been cool to see him live.
If you don't understand just how much a part of the fabric of US music and culture this guy was, check this out: The night after Sinatra's death, the lights on the Empire State Building were turned blue, the lights at the Las Vegas Strip were dimmed in his honor, and the casinos stopped spinning for one minute.
The casinos in Vegas stopped spinning for one minute!! That right there shows the power of this artist. Awesome.
I've listened to this about four times through since I got it yesterday. I love this guy and his music.
