The underdog that exists

The upcoming elections in India have awakened many a rusted political guy. As you can understand, most are now doing the rounds and are keen on using the citizens to benefit through the VOTE.

In our area, the roads that were in a dilapidated condition are now being repaired. The city roads are being repaired and some work is being done to build a national highway.

In short, the life of the normal human being is being slightly disrupted in the name of progress by the so-called local political parties. All this seems a bit too much and honestly speaking, people are fed up with all this drama and just want to live a normal life without too many hassles. It is hot as it is with all the 'El Nino' effects and so on and not a trace of rain. We did not experience coolness in the winter season either. So, you can imagine the degree of drought in these areas. So, added to this, if politicians start the election fever, there will be irritability for sure and unlike the citizens of developed countries, the people here are always the underdogs. With the increased number of crimes and unrest, I feel it would be better if our state was declared a union territory and did away with all kinds of political parties. At least, there would be development and corruption would disappear hopefully. I am not sure whether this is possible but as a citizen, I feel that we in our state have had enough of politicians ruining our lives.

Another example of corruption is the air pollution in our area caused by a local plastic company that brings in old plastic stuff and burns all the plastic waste. The air is polluted and the wind blows all the smoke and the residues and people suffocate but no one is allowed to complain as the owners have probably bribed the authorities. To add to the misery, there are other companies too like the spice factory. Imagine your skin feeling like burning because of the chilies being powdered. Rural areas are often the target of such companies because they can use the land to produce such stuff without being questioned a lot.

Unfortunately, it is the planet that is paying the price for such misdeeds and this is why there is climate change that can't be reversed. If only people stop using such factory products.

One thing that can be done to mitigate such bad effects is to grow more plants and trees. Plants such as the holy basil or the Tulsi purify the air. Trees such as Neem are good for the environment and people should strive to plant more. Trees are also home to birds and can protect the environment and purify the air. I do hope that my post encourages people to plant more trees.

As for the elections, I would suggest that people vote for the right candidate and recognize that their vote does matter. In the end, it should be about values and not just a party or a face. It should be for the country and not for the individual.
