Planets and Stars

in life •  3 months ago

I had recently heard about the planets coming into alignment and thought that it would be a great chance to take a look at the stars. After mentioning it to my wife and kids I found out that they wanted to have a look also.
On the night of the 25 January we went up to a look out area but did not have much luck as it was a cloudy night and not good for looking at the night sky for stars. I did However take some photos, here they are:

We read some more information about it and found out that the planets should still be able to be seen up until late February. With this new information we decided to buy a cheap telescope to help us get a better look. The old saying you get what you pay for is true and whilst I have had some minor success I feel with a better telescope I could have done better.

Here is a photo of Jupiter we took on the 26th January. It is the bright one in the middle of the photo:

Here is a photo of Venus and what I believe to be Saturn:

Venus is the biggest of the two in the photo above.

Above is another one of Jupitar in which I managed to also get a gum tree and a few other stars in also.
Jupiter is the Planet almost hidden by the tree.

Whilst the Telescope did not work all that well I did manage to take a couple of photos of stuff that I was able to find.

It was a fun way to spend the evenings for a few days and also teach the kids about the night sky.

Thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoyed looking at my photos.
