I am one of those people who will readily complain of rainy weather and cloudy skies affecting my health and causing all sorts of pain. As I am trying to fight the natural born negativity in me, I owe it to myself to praise the splendid weather we’ve been having lately. There is nothing special I can tell you about today. I didn’t do anything interesting. The few shots in this post are random images in my unremarkable neighborhood. What made the day worth talking about is the weather, with an early summer feel, not-too-hot temperature and perfect sky.

However, it seems odd to be writing a post about a perfectly ordinary day, even if it is a gorgeous one. You cannot post something like this on mainstream social media, or your Instagram “friends” will think you’re a complete loser. Normal is boring. You could at least stop for a fancy latte and grab a few pics in a neatly decorated garden. (We have such coffee shops in the neighborhood, but I am perfectly happy with my own coffee.)
One of the problems is, I think, that we’ve come to a point where we take normal life for granted and therefore not worth mentioning. A perfectly good day deserves to be acknowledged because you don’t know how many of those you have in store. The weather itself will become unbearably hot in a few weeks, and this is just one of the problems. Given the uncertain times we live in, there’s no knowing if next year you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful day. Lest we forget, four years ago we were under strict lockdown and a walk in your neighborhood was a crime, punishable by a hefty fine.
Bad things may be lurking just around the corner, which is one more reason to take pleasure in the simple joys of life. See how easy it is to let negativity creep back into your mindset? This has to do with me being an obsessive newsreader. I know this is bad for my mental health, yet, I will end this on a positive note. The Washington Times just published a piece saying Biden is considering “wrapping up” the case against Julian Assange. No idea what this means exactly, but I just felt like sharing the news. If there is someone who would appreciate the joy of a simple walk on a sunny day or any sort of day, for that matter, that is Julian Assange. Fingers crossed.
