Translation:
On the 20th, former Governor Lee wrote on his social media (SNS), "Let's end the outdated frame of left-click and right-click and the old-fashioned criticism. The Democratic Party must become a party that overcomes extremes and ideologies. It must advance towards practicality to protect the people, not ideologies."
He continued, "The forces supporting martial law are no longer conservative. The Democratic Party must become a party that includes rational conservatives, centrists, and rational progressives. We must create a country where the predictable change of conservatism and the creative destruction of progressivism meet the future first."
He argued, "A bird flies with wings on the left and right, but the body must maintain balance to move forward. Politics should not be centered, but rather the 'destiny of the people' and the 'lives of the people' should be the focus. Both the forces of industrialization and democratization must leave behind the glory of the past and now embrace creative destruction."
Former Governor Lee also quoted former President Roh Moo-hyun's saying, "After becoming president, I realized that a progressive president cannot implement all progressive policies, and a conservative president cannot implement all conservative policies. In the end, the path is to take progressive and conservative policies based on centrism, ultimately moving towards the middle."
He further stated, "Technology, economy, security, and peace are key elements. Without technology and economy, security is impossible. If we fail in domestic affairs, we lose the regime, but if we fail in foreign affairs, we lose the country."
Additionally, former Governor Lee said, "First, second, and third are the lives of the people and an innovative economy. Politics is not a place to assert ideologies but an 'innovation workplace' to nurture and protect the lives of the people."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "We must create a 7:3 country with the people opposing illegal martial law, not a 51:49 bleeding democracy, to win the presidential election and build a new country. The only power to overcome is the solidarity of the people."
Nothing stays unchanged.
Politics is no exception.
The ultimate goal of politics should be to represent the people's will and improve the quality of life.
Politics aiming only to seize power will inevitably become third or fourth-rate.
We must elect politicians who properly bring about change.
