Social media has become an integral part of our lives and society, and the web3 evolution had a big impact on how things work. Centralization is the big issue with social media platforms, as the big companies control every aspect, from how users interact to managing their data and privacy.
But there are always "sufficiently decentralized social network" that challenge the status quo of social media platforms! Warpcast is a web3 social network similar to Elon's X but built different! It is available both on mobile and web browsers, and users can "cast", interact with other users, showcase their NFTs, and even review their on-chain activity in the feed.
Warpcast used the innovation that Farcaster brought in web3 and the social media sector to create an Dapp where users can enjoy complete control over their interactions and audience. What sets Warpcast apart from Farcaster is its application-specific functionalities and user interface. While Farcaster provides the decentralized backbone, allowing for data integrity and user ownership across various applications, Warpcast builds upon this by offering a tailored, user-friendly platform.
The Warpcast's user base witnessed a dramatic upswing, with daily active users on the Farcaster network growing four times in a week. The growth is attributed to the innovative introduction of Warpcast Frames on January 27, allowing users to engage with external content like NFTs, transactions, and surveys directly within the app.
I didn't joined Warpcast due to the Frames introduction... I joined because Coinbase Wallet had a quest that rewarded me with $10 worth of OP tokens. It was a win-win situation, as the 7 USD fee for creating an account was covered by the reward. All I had to do was to get some $ETH on base and pay the one-time fee!
Created my Warpcast account and received my $OP rewards instantly. Double dip with this quest as I got some tokens and joined a top social media network for free! It may be a long-term rewards bonanza, as early users were able to claim the $DEGEN airdrop.
I checked and I had no token allocation, maybe because my account was created after the snapshot. However, those that received the airdrop were able to sell for approximately 200 dollars. Maybe new airdrops will follow... who knows!

I seen Vitalik has a strong presence on Warpcast, and maybe will pus the platform towards mainstream adoption. I am a strong advocate for social Dapps that promote decentralizations... as this is the way! This reminds me to check on Lens and Mirror just in case they will drop some perks soon!
