    Collection Highlights -

I have another great vintage piece of silver to share. This one happens to be from my small bar collection. It is a United States silver corporation bar celebrating the racehorse Secretariat who was the triple crown winner in 1973.

This was minted by the United States silver corporation, located in Van nuys California. It was incorporated in 1958 and changed names in 1978 to the Continental coin corporation. It appears they made several sizes, and a few common designs of both a flying eagle and a Morgan, but I could not find any specifics about this bar other than it appears they produced several art type bars in the 1 oz variety.

It's nice to have a change and have something other than an eagle on some silver. Having both the horse racing and the headshot of Secretariat is a nice change. I like the oval design with the picture and the lettering inside of it while the texture on the outside is very unique and not something I've seen before. I think the horse portrait was really well done shows some great detail.

    Reverse

In reverse this little more boring but hits a few key points for me. I love the fact that it calls out the mint that produced this round, it makes a lot more fun to collect them when you can find out a bit of history. And it's always nice to see your silver stamped with its purity and it's weight. The font used for the lettering is very clean and crisp. While this bar has a little bit of toning from its age overall it's held up exceptionally well for being 50 years old.

I don't have as many bars as I have rounds, and I don't see them too often but I picked this one up when I saw it because it was both vintage and a bar and figured it would be great for the collections.
