Hello everyone,
Discovering the Hive community has been a game-changer for me. This platform revives hope in passions and talents, encouraging members to excel in their strengths. I feel privileged to be part of this community and pledge to contribute meaningfully to its growth.
As a way of proper introduction, I am Omenka Michael Izuchukwu, delighted to join this vibrant ecosystem.
My life’s journey has woven a rich tapestry of experiences. I was born and raised in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, but originally from Enugu State in South Eastern Nigeria.
Warri is a city in the south south region of Nigeria belonging to the Niger Delta region. The Niger Deltas’ are communities in the South South region of Nigeria known for their rich tapestry of “crude oil/petroleum.” Aside from this, one of the physical features of Warri, which has made it a popular city in Nigeria over time, is the presence of mangrove swamps, rivers, and creeks. The people of Warri are often thought to be “canoe/boat people.” While this saying may not be so exact about them, however the saying that they are one of the leading communities in sea food production appears to be a truism. A touch of their sea/local food and culture could make you a home there. Growing up in Warri, I absorbed the city’s dynamic energy, forging lasting connections and memories.
To add, growing up in a Christian and catholic family laid the foundation for my curiosity in religious studies and theological inquiries. I devoured theological texts, encyclicals, and articles, shaping my philosophical foundation. This upbringing instilled values of grittiness and compassion, critical thinking and intellectual exploration.
My educational pursuits led me to Ibadan, South Western Nigeria, where I studied Philosophy and Religious Studies at Dominican University, Samonda. This foundational knowledge deepened my understanding of human existence, ethics, and cultural diversity.
Consequently, this transformative experience honed my analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and passion for philosophical discourse. Beyond academics, my interests thrive. My intellectual curiosity drives me toward philosophical reading and writing, particularly exploring metaphysics through the lens of African culture. I am fascinated by the intersections of traditional thought and modern philosophical inquiry. My writings delve into the intricate relationships between, existence, reality and African cosmology.
Aside from philosophical engagements, I am an avid football enthusiast and analyst. I share insightful pre and post-match analyses with fellow football fans, dissecting strategies, player performances, and game dynamics. This passion allows me to merge logical reasoning with sports enthusiasm.
My interest also cuts across sports and intellectual commitment. Music, with specific to musical instrumentation, resonates deeply with me. I can recall, in 2020, amidst the covid-19 pandemic, I discovered my love for the bass guitar. Under Mr. Nathaniel’s guidance, I mastered the instrument within six months. My tutor, Mr. Nathaniel, a music genius, played multiple instruments – bass guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and jazz drum. Sometimes, he jokingly says, “I can even play more than these instruments.” Learning from him reflected passion and character development because despite his ruthless abilities on playing musical instruments, he remained humble and friendly. My first performance was at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, Warri, before an audience of over 200 people. Playing genres like highlife, reggae, countryside, and RnB music broadened my cultural understanding.
I am excited to contribute to Hive’s inclusive community, exchanging ideas, learning from diverse perspectives, and growing through meaningful interactions. Let’s engage in thought-provoking discussions, exploring philosophy, culture, and sports.
Thank you once again for having me.
