Emptying trash shed crop March 2024.jpg

Saturday morning I was up early and got my post up, then went down in the cellar to get it ready for the bags of soil. I found a sheet of plywood I use for the 8’ standing plant light shelf and it was just about the right size for the bulkhead. So I didn’t need to set up at the barn for my brother to cut a sheet.

Next I got the chores at the barn done and started cleaning out the trash shed. I’d been taking the garbage part of the mess to the dump as needed but had not done the recycling since November, I think. It was to start raining around 9AM so I really wanted to get done before that.

I worked for an hour and had nearly finished when my brother came out to move the soil into the cellar.

He backed the truck up onto the now frozen mud and then set up the bulkhead. I started taking the bags and stacking them on the tailgate.

Then I flipped them onto the slide and down they went. He would drag them back into the cellar and stack them. I wasn’t trying to get them put away to store, as I needed the pallet they sat on to do that. I’d deal with moving them to the storage area later on.

Once the pallet and bags were in the cellar, we finished up the recycling and started loading the truck for the dump run. We got home about 9AM and I was completely wiped out.

I spent the rest of the day sleeping or reading while it rained.

On Sunday I hope to finish the transcription for the plant notes. My brother and I plan to make Sticky Chicken, a simple crockpot recipe. We are thinking of making the batata to go with it, probably mashed.
