Yesterday, I had the opportunity to enjoy Bun Dau Mam Tom at Bun Dau Gia Thanh restaurant, and I really have to tell you about my experience with this dish. Bun Dau Mam Tom, although a rustic dish, has a special attraction, not only for Hanoians but also for tourists from near and far. Whether you are a local or a visitor from far away, this dish always has an irresistible appeal, I am addicted to this dish and always want to eat it every day. Bun Dau Gia Thanh not only meets the need for flavor but also scores strongly in terms of space and food quality.

As soon as I entered Bun Dau Gia Thanh restaurant, I felt a very pleasant and comfortable space. The restaurant has an outdoor area, with tables decorated in the style of the Vietnamese countryside, creating a rustic but close and cozy space. Decorative items such as bamboo hats or old wooden tables and chairs remind me of the image of a peaceful Vietnamese village. Sitting here, enjoying the food while enjoying the fresh and airy atmosphere, is really relaxing, that is a big plus of the restaurant because the dish of Bun Dau Mam Tom is actually a street food, so sometimes there are many small eateries that look quite dirty, making me feel hungry but not dare to eat.

The inside of the restaurant is equally comfortable, with open space and surrounding trees, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The space is spacious but not too noisy, very suitable for gatherings with friends or family.

Now I want to talk about Bun Dau Mam Tom here. This dish really impressed me from the first time I tried it. Although Bun Dau Mam Tom is a very familiar dish to Hanoians and is also easy to find in many places, at Gia Thanh restaurant, this dish has a unique flavor, unlike anywhere else.

A full serving of vermicelli and fried

tofu here includes soft vermicelli, crispy fried tofu, boiled pork leg, green rice sausage, fried spring rolls, cartilage sausage, and a bowl of special shrimp paste. Each ingredient in the dish is carefully prepared and very fresh.

Pork leg is the leg of the pig, boiled until soft, fragrant and not greasy at all. The pork here is very sweet and soft, each piece is cut into moderate pieces, when eaten it feels very pleasant.
The green rice sausage at this restaurant is really delicious, chewy and fragrant, with a strong traditional flavor. Although it is a simple dish, when combined with vermicelli and fried tofu, the green rice sausage becomes more attractive than ever.
The fried tofu here is especially crispy, fragrant and not oily. The tofu is cut into cubes, fried over high heat until the outside is crispy while the inside is still soft and smooth. This is a point that impresses me a lot, because not every restaurant can fry tofu as crispy and delicious as this. Certainly, the way the chefs fry the tofu at Gia Thanh makes a clear difference.
Shrimp paste is the most important part of the vermicelli with tofu dish, and at this restaurant, the shrimp paste is mixed according to a special recipe, with a light aroma, not too strong, not too salty, just right. If you are someone who cannot eat shrimp paste, the restaurant also sells sweet and sour fish sauce as an alternative, and I think both ways of eating are very reasonable.
In addition to the basic ingredients, raw vegetables are also an indispensable element when enjoying vermicelli with tofu. Basil, cucumber, perilla, and perilla are fresh and very crispy, creating a perfect combination when eaten with vermicelli with tofu. These vegetables help the dish to be more refreshing, balancing the fat of the meat and fried tofu.

In terms of price, a full serving of vermicelli with tofu at Gia Thanh costs only about $1.50 (about 30-40 thousand VND). With this price, you have a delicious, filling meal with reasonable quality. This is a popular dish but worth trying, especially for those who want to enjoy a full, delicious meal without worrying about the price.
Another plus point is that the restaurant is located near Mixue, a very famous milk tea shop from China. After eating vermicelli with tofu, I ordered 2 more cups of Mixue milk tea to quench my thirst. The combination of vermicelli with tofu and shrimp paste and Mixue milk tea is an interesting choice, making the meal more complete.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you try a piece!
