Sunday market and delicious barbecue!

Hey everybody! it's the start of a brand new week and I wanted to share some of my Sunday activities with you.

My day started pretty early with my beautiful partner in crime @pamarias. We took a little trip down to the local market to buy some fruits and vegetables for lunch. We get there by way of public transportation because we live in a walking neighborhood and no longer own a car.

The market band knew we were coming, so they welcomed us with some music by the entrance.

    So special!

Here are some images of the fruit and vegetable stands. They're probably there from very early in the morning; way before the sun comes up.

The reason for our Sunday shopping was twofold. First is that we needed some food for the week, but the second reason, was we needed to buy a few extra things because we were headed to Chef Pete's apartment for barbecue. And everybody knows that if you are ever invited to a chef's house to eat, you never say no! It is known!

We also took my mom and nephew out to buy some stuff and look at some hand made decorations for her house.

When we were done buying fruits and vegetables, we met up with Pete and unpacked. He was already working on the grills. One for meat, another one for vegetables.

The pups were having a great time too. Can you imagine what it feels like for a dog to be at a barbecue?

We threw some home-made sausages, including some blood sausages.

And in the meantime, Pete put together a delicious Palestinian dish called maftoul with raisins and almonds.

We did our best to time the cooking so that everything would be ready around the same time and I think we did a pretty good job.

I'm probably the least talented person in the kitchen, so I was in charge of muddling a chili sauce made from scratch. I have to say it came out pretty good.

We also bought some nice plantains to make dessert. Fried plantains with sour cream and cheese which came out super sweet and full of gooey goodness.
