One thing that has always been true about me is that I make statements with what I wear. I’m not afraid to have a different opinion than others and it often enables me to stand out in a crowd. I’d much rather be the guy who adorns lots of color and somehow manages to piece together an intricate outfit rather than be the dude who is wearing a boring solid shirt with basic pants and nothing notable to witness. That’s just the way I am.
I understand the world needs people who dress plain, so I’m not hating on those that simply don’t care to be creative — it is what it is. Just please, don’t waste your time trying to critique my fashion choice, because I am impenetrable. I spent most of my younger years warding off negative comments about dressing different than most people. I’ve even had narrow minded individuals try to tell me certain colors were gay or buying sale items is being cheap. The idiocracy is rampant, but it will not stop me from being me.
One of the favorite things about my current job is that everyone in management is encouraged to dress in their own unique way. There is no uniform and the dress code is quite flexible. Only certain things like tank tops, drug/alcohol images, or other obvious unprofessional choices are not allowed. Otherwise we have the freedom to wear what we want. This is the type of environment I thrive in. Wearing a crazy outfit is one thing, but having ultimate confidence when doing so is what really propels you to a new level of fashion statement. I’ve been told numerous times that I’m the best dressed person at work. I don’t take that award lightly, I have a reputation to live up to. Although even if nobody noticed, I’d still be wearing stuff like this because it’s just one of those things I truly love to do.
My apartment only has so much space and a large portion of it is dedicated to my wardrobe. I have a huge collection of shoes, NBA jerseys, winter clothes, summer wear, and all sorts of accessories. I’m truly blessed to have what I have, but it’s been a process of many years of gradually gathering each item or being lucky enough to get some as gifts. Now that I finally have this job where I get to wear a new outfit every single day, it makes sense why I was hoarding all this stuff. If you don’t have a reason to wear your things, it would be pointless to have this much. I legit make people’s day better when they see my outfit sometimes. You can just tell the spark of joy on their face when they see a guy like me willing to step outside typical standards. Especially here where I live in West Virginia, USA — most people are so simple. I am a sore thumb in a crowd of average fingers.
If you’ve ever wanted to dress abnormally but have been afraid to do so, I ask you “what is stopping you?” Seriously, literally nothing can keep you from being who you want to be when it comes to your choice of clothing. I encourage you to try new things and find what works best for you. The world can be a nasty place, but there is also so many people out there who are willing to appreciate you for you — no matter how quirky or weird you may be. Trust me, I’ve met so many of the more positive types of people and they have encouraged me to continue to live my life how I do and dress how I please.
So yeah, some people wouldn’t be caught dead wearing what I choose to wear. That does not mean I shouldn’t keep doing what I do best. It’s winter here in West Virginia, a damn cold one at that. So hopefully you have enjoyed seeing some of my recent outfit choices to survive these harsh temperatures and snow. I look forward to warmer times and getting to pull off some summer outfits, but for now I’m going to continue to make use of all the winter clothes I have.
Thanks for checking out my post and take care. Feel free to comment below your favorite outfit from this collection or share your own unique outfit in the form of a photo for me to see. Talk to you all soon.
