My Experience with Our Family Dog

in family •  2 months ago

Greetings Everyone. I remain Cyprian Ajudua. Family is what I cherish most, but since I am not yet married, I will be more explicit about the events that took place, while I was growing up.

Everyone on Earth has that big brother or sister who will always want to show us that they are older than us. However, mine was not different. Because I was the last born as at then, they will always want to cheat me.

Nevertheless, my mother was never in support of it, she will always give me that love and care that will always make my siblings jealous of me.

As the adage goes, " Remove the monkey's hand from the pot of soup, before it changes into a human's own". This monkey's hand turned into one. This does not mean that you should call me a monkey. However, if you call me one, I will accept, because monkeys understand monkeys.

During every festive season, my mother always makes sure that we have a feel of the seasonal merriment. But that day, something beyond my imagination happened. It was then, that I understood that dogs behave and think like humans also. I believe you have now understood my opinions about "Monkeys".

As always, my mother prepared one of our native soups called, " Nsala soup". Nonetheless, for proper understanding, it is called "White soup". This is people who don't know, what Nsala soup is.

However, she prepared the soup with two big broilers. And then gave each of us our soup filled with meat and pepper. I took my time to devour my soup with some wraps of Akpu, also known as Fufu. My older siblings finished theirs on time. But my annoyance was that they did not allow my meat to rest. Each of them wanted to have a bit. And on my part, I did not allow their hands to touch.

I did not know that our dog was at the corner observing what was going on. Since their hands could not touch the meat, they had to leave me to my fate. I stood up to get drinking water from the tank, but before I could get back, our dog was already doing justice to the meat.

I was pained. Tears were coming out of my eyes, but I could not cry. If you have heard the playtext titled, " Fate of a Cockroach", you will understand my predicament.

    Thank you.
