THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CYBERPUNK 2077 FF:06:B5 MYSTERY
if you were looking to solve it yourself, this post will sort of wreck the investigation needed, sorry...
Ever since the initial launch of Cyberpunk 2077 like 5 years ago the mystery of the FF:06:B5 statue has been a massive mystery to the community. With a subreddit set up with OVER 45,000 Cyberpunk 2077 players putting their collective IQ together to solve the mystery, this was no small attempt to solve the mystery but rather a massive international effort, always neat to see for sure.
The amount of cryptography and technical knowledge required to start decoding the mystery was waaaaay above the average players train of normal thought.. But given nerds are nerds and crave solving problems, plus the massive amount of people actually trying to solve it showed to me that humanity when aligned with a common goal is pretty damn powerful! Above is one of the cyphers that were extracted from in game.. Of course it has to do with cyphers, cryptograph, math (prime numbers) and hexadecimal stuff.. Beyond my pay grade for most my life but now that I'm a person who survives on his technical merit, almost would have had the skills to solve it.
Version 2 Patch Helped Players Solve FF:06:B5
While the "recent" v2.0 CyberPunk 2077 patch added more content to the game to effectively make it easier to solve the mystery, it seems the guys at CD Projekt Red allude to it initially being solvable in the initial release.. With big names like Keanu Reeves and Grimes being involved with the CyberPunk 2077 game and the hype around it, it wasn't surprising to me that the developers went balls to the walls embedding lore and world building. Turns out that one of Grimes songs featured in the game actually had massive clues in it, and no one seemed to notice until recently.
While I'm not 100% convinced the answer that was added in the V2.0 patch of the game was the original answer.. The way the devs handled it seems pretty damn neat to me..
The video below from YT channel DaKa does a great explanation of how players may have solved the mystery finally.. It only took an entire version number upgrade , over 40,000 people and half a decade for folks fucking around investigating to finally find an explanation for it.. To be fair, props to the CyberPunk 2077 devs for keeping their mouth shut about it till players solved it (maybe).
The Secret of the Mystery FF:06:B5
While I suggest you watch the video linked above for a way better lead up to the secret and how it was solved.. if you are a person like myself that has less time than interest in this shit.. here is the "prize" for solving the mystery:
I just about pissed myself laughing at the v2.0 conclusion (maybe) with the CyberPunk 2077 devs BASICALLY calling the whole FF:06:B5 Mystery solving community a bunch of schizos, while also in a sense speaking "the true true" (imo) and speaking things that deep down inside we all know true, but keep out of our thoughts because of the uncomfortable realization we as a species think we are far more advanced than we actually are when you zoom out..
In conclusion, if this mystery is solved, this MAY have been the biggest troll I've seen in a long time in game dev.. If it's just a shoehorned patch to stop people going nuts over it, that is fucking hilarious to me too. While the launch of CyberPunk 2077 sucked ass... The V2.0 patch fixes a lot of stuff and makes the game playable.. I don't play video games that often, but when I do, I love the escapism their game provides.
