Taking delivery of my Model 3

in cars •  3 days ago

Yesterday was the long anticipated day, where I had to pick up my Tesla Model 3. Let me tell you about my day!

    Train trip down South

Because Tesla only wants to deliver to drivers themselves (rather than the lease company), I had to travel to the delivery centre next to the European headquarters in Tilburg, which is in the South of The Netherlands. Despite a train related strike and an accident on the intended route, I arrived on time and was even able to get some work done on the way. Nevertheless, it was a good reminder why it makes sense to have a car to your disposal...
After a short bus ride, I arrived exactly on time at the centre:

    Delivery process

Once inside the delivery centre, I had to queue some 10 minutes (it seems many people still like to get a new Tesla...). The paperwork was done pretty quickly and then I could find my new "baby" in the large hall. I basically had to find out everything myself, because there were hardly any sales representatives. Fortunately I know a bit about EV's and Tesla, so I managed easily. Afterwards, I unplugged the car and took it on its first spin.

    First impressions

The drive home was smooth and comfortable. Of course, I needed to get used to some of the features and adjust the seating and steering wheel position a couple of times, but that's normal. Halfway the two hour drive, I took a short break next to the motorway for coffee and lunch. I also took this picture to send to friends and family (and the Hive community):

    Doesn't look bad right?!

Back home, I parked the car and was positively surprised about the efficiency of the car in the winter weather (0 degrees and wet snow). I'm sure we're going to enjoy some nice trips together!
