Here you can see mineral Stolzite, which was discovered for the first time in the 19th century and was then named by the mineralogist Wilhelm von Haidinger (1795 - 1871) who referred to Joseph Alexander Stolz when naming it. The Austrian mineralogist Wilhelm von Haidinger had done a lot of research in this field and published numerous writings in which he shared his works and he received many awards during his life and was even knighted by the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph (1830 - 1916) in 1864 who was also known as the husband of the former Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Other researchers also devoted themselves to the research of stolzite and among them was the mineralogist August Breithaupt (1791 - 1873) and the mineral was found for the first time probably in the Czech Republic near the German border and it is typically created by weathering and can be found in lead-containing deposits and it appears there together with other lead-containing minerals. It is rather rare to find and the surface of the crystals have a shiny or transparent appearance and the color can vary and is often gray, brown, yellow, red and it can also take on other shades under certain conditions, which are often due to the addition with other minerals. Even though it is rather rarer, it is sometimes used as ore for the extraction of tungsten, which is often used as a substitute for lead and is used in numerous different areas and it is of great interest for the production of bulbs, electrodes or the aviation industry. Tungsten has a high melting point, which makes it particularly interesting and it is also used for the production of jewelry and is relevant in the circles of collectors or for research purposes.
