I think I know how dome shields in videogames will work in real life.
do you know what an oobleck is?
it's a non newtonian fluid, that becomes solid when struck and liquid when left alone.
so what if we have an oobleck but it's a non newtonian gas?
and then for some futuristic reason we could control it? using maybe energy to make it harden?
