    Introduction

We thought we would start writing and exploring poetry forms every week. Writing poetry and song lyrics an dplaying with words is always something we have liked doing so we thought why not do some more! So two of us are writing poems every week and we will see how it goes!

    Poetry form

This week we are looking at the Cinquain

    This is the definition:

    Cinquain

This is also known as a quintain or quintet, and as its names suggest, it has five lines. It can be an entire short poem or a stanza in a longer work. It was developed into the “American Cinquain” in the early 20th century by poet Adelaide Crapsey, who was inspired by the Japanese tanka poem. Her revised version is unrhymed and has a set number of syllables per line: 2, 4, 6, 8, 2.

We decided to use the theme of expectations this week.

    Title: Expectations 1

    I wait
    Does hope always,
    inspire the great mi9nds
or does it wither the sanity
    of all

    Title: Expectations 2

    Shappen
    Formed in minds high
    Kingdom formed in false hope
    Three protectors endless slumber
    Stagnant
