365 straight weeks of #beersaturday means we have been at this as many weeks as there are days in a whole year. Cheers to that!

Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.

This week, I snagged myself ANOTHER IPA box set just in time for camping!

Pint 'O the Week!

The PotW is a fan favourite because it is usually a beer enjoyed on the town or otherwise in a social or business setting that we don't get to visit all the time. This week, I visited a local brewery I don't review too often but love to visit when I am out that way. Broken Rail Brewing is a relatively new craft brewery a town over and this is a wonderful Hop Forward Hazy IPA.



Best part of it was perhaps enjoying it on a lawn chair out front on a beautiful early summer day. Visiting a craft brewery sure makes for a great pint o the week!

Flying Monkeys IPA Box Set!

Long time readers might notice that I have been a fan of Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery since probably day 1 of my entry into the historic #beersaturday. They are the craft beer IPA pioneers in this region and I have been a fan of every ridiculous beer I have ever tasted from them. How jazzed was I when visiting the beer store on my way camping and finding an IPA variety pack ready for the cooler?



The IPA Box Set is about as ridiculous as it gets with the wild styles, shameless experimentation, and downright ludicrous names of these beers. Here are a couple I started with.

Yummo

I picked this one from the cooler when I first landed on my camping trip and it was time to put up the tent. I usually land, get some bug spray on, crack a cold one to celebrate arrival, and set up that tent so camp is done ASAP. These happy fellows just might help me get through it in delicious style.



Apparently, Yummo Citrus Punch IPA is only available outside of the brewery in this variety pack. Again, turning their noses up at the German purity law, they have included some extra additives Cara Cara orange Puree, Apricot Puree, Papaya Puree, and Fresh Pineapple Juice. You would think this would make it a sweet mess not resembling beer but the hops (Idaho 7 and Citra with extras in the dry hopping: Superdelic, Freestye - Rakau, Mosaic, Riwaku) battle this one back to a nice fruity and plenty bitter tasting IPA. West coast IPAs don't get me down but this was a damn fine camping beer.

Gloop!

Who the hell names a beer Gloop? Flying Monkeys, that's who. They started years ago with Smashbomb and Juicy Ass years ago and just seem to have gotten more and more silly since then. Let's face it many breweries have but these guys lean into it more than anyone else and set the bar nice and low for new and goofy names for IPAs. Besides that, what the hell is a Breakfast IPA?!!



Gloop Breakfast IPA made me laugh a little when I pulled it out as beer really isn't for breakfast unless you have a serious problem. I think they are trying to sound all cool and Scooby Doo retro with the zoinkies and this one is also exclusive to this box set. with tastes of silky vanilla, lime, peach and passion fruit, it certainly does sound like a bowl of Froot Loops. While I am not sure I would enjoy this for breakfast, the Special Additions: Natural Tutti Frutti Flavour was a little non-specific but I am accustomed to Flying Monkeys eccentric beers and I enjoyed it. Might even have more than 1 in a row if it wasn't so exclusive!

I gotta throw my coveted seal of approval to flying Monkeys for being so weird for so long. doesn't appear they are slowing down and I will be on the lookout fore the next IPA Box Set.
