Audius is a free decentralized web 3 music streaming platforms that was founded by Roneil Rumbur and Forest Browning in 2019. Personally i first discovered the site back in 2023 when i started becoming interested in web3 and blockchain technology. The crypto community was talking about this site and they were calling it the web 3 and decentralized version of Spotify. In this article i'm going to share my experience with the site and tell you if it is worth it or not.
Design and usabilty
Their official is visually appealing and very easy to navigate. It only took me a couple of minutes to create an account and i was able to easily discover new and interesting artists. The site has more music than i anticipated. However their app was the complete opposite. The app is a complete disaster to say the least. First it takes a long time to log in to my account, second the app is slow and buggy and lastly the interface id hard to navigate and some of the songs refuse to play. Overall the website is great but the app is a mess.
Content and Curation
The platform is full of music and most of the music is really cool. Currently my most favourite artist on the platform is RAC and i had no idea about this artist until i joined this platform. Apparently the site pays these artist for their work but their songs must peak on their charts for them to earn. There are some mainstream that are also using this platform, artist like diplo and skrillex have already released music on this platform.
My final thoughs and opinion
Overall i love Audius and i think it is a dope music streamimg site however i would really appreciate if they would fix their app so i can easily listen to music with my cellphone instead of using my laptop to stream music. out of ten i would give this site a SEVEN. also i think they must pay their artist more money for work and i hope they do so as the platform grows and becomes more mainstrem.
That is my Audius review. please follow as i will review another blockchain site on my next blog article.
