Making a Virtual Fishing Journal

in asynckronism •  4 months ago

I've said before that I enjoy Fishing in Video Games, (Here, and here) I just always gravitate towards it. Gathering professions are usually set in stone on what the player will obtain from a resource node but with fishing it seems like there is always a chance of receiving an oddity from the waters. Extra materials? Why not. Pieces of gear? Maybe. Treasure boxes? Sure! Chances of other players snooping around trying to figure out if I am a bot? It's happened before and had lead to some interesting interactions.

There is also the nice part where I can sit in one spot and enjoy the game scenery without having to be constantly moving to the next area after I've 'Gathered all the resource nodes'. The fish will always be in the water.

I recently received a journal that felt and looked distinctive from my other notebooks/journals and decided to make it my Virtual Fishing Journal!

My skills in Paint are transferrable though!

I researched actual fishing journals to see how experts use it and got a pretty good sense of the concept. I plan on keeping track of the fish I catch, what zone they were caught in, which type was the water, along with any events or notes of interest that occur before, during, or after the actual process of fishing is done.

Besides inputting entries, I will be having a sub-goal on two games in particular:

    New World:

New World is making some changes to fishing that make Legendary Fish less frequent to be caught. I need to purchase a new set of armor with the upcoming patch and I plan on trying to achieve the funds required to purchase each piece from selling fish on the auction house.

    Project Zomboid:

    Title from Steam Library

I purchased this awhile back and the game really surprised me with how in-depth the variety of skills and options to utilize was. Of course instead of preparing a safehouse or decimating the numbers of infected in the area, I decided to fish. Surviving for 100 days is a lofty goal when the path to acquire materials is hindered by hordes of infected. I will be using some mods to make the fishing more varied and to help streamline my goal without getting too far in the nitty gritty.

    Wild Waters Entries:

I have a category of games that include fishing as an activity. These entries will be varied and mainly just about the fishing. No goal here, just observing the fishing, the area, and jotting down what happened while I was attempting to fish.

I often try to chat with nearby players and I am usually PVP enabled whenever available so events might happen that spiral into something entirely unexpected.

These entries will just be a 'My Blog' addition but I will hashtag the appropriate communities, words, and terms if it fits. This'll be fun for me and allow me to share what I experience while I am out and about in the gaming worlds.

I'll share what I've already logged in the coming days/weeks but until then, That's it!

    Happy Gaming!
