Recently I took these pictures of the sunset and it is always an atmospheric experience to see this scenario and I would like to talk a little about the meaning in Norse mythology. In general, it is in the mythology so that the moon was associated with female deities and the sun with the male aspects and in Norse mythology the opposite is the case and as the goddess of the sun was also Sol worshipped who was traveling with her chariot in the sky which was pulled by horses. Her brother Mani, who is also known as the personification of the moon, is also traveling with a chariot in the sky and the two are constantly followed by the wolves skoll and Hati and on the day of Ragnarök, which is known as an end-time myth in Norse mythology, the wolves will catch up with the two and the wolf Manegarm will then devour the moon and the blood of the moon will then darken the sun. By the way, here there are also parallels to alchemy where there is often talk of a green lion who devours the sun and the blood that falls to the ground is also associated with prima materia which is an important basis for the creation of the great work of the alchemists and in some interpretations he is also considered a guardian of secret knowledge as well as a personification of vitriol. In other legends, the green lion also devours the sun and as an end result gold comes to light and this is a reference to the artificial production of gold which was one of the main goals of the old alchemists. Back to the Norse mythology where according to traditions the sun was created from the sparks of fire which were once brought by the gods from Muspelheim and there are also views that the moon should also consist of it and the gods at that time pinned the sparks to the sky and the sparks that were still left now move around freely and are also sometimes associated with the stars. According to some legends, the sunset is a result of fighting between day and night and an important role is played by giants who are also known as the personification of the sunset and were once in the sky where they had a battle with other spirits and then the spirits of the night should win and it came to the fact that the light of the sun goes out.
