A few weeks ago I took these pictures of various wood carvings, which were originally made in Indonesia on the island of Bali, which is highly appreciated for the diverse mythology and is often revered as a mystical place in addition to the ancient culture. From a traditional point of view, Bali is known for various things and in addition to the breathtaking landscape and some temples, it are dances, music, blacksmithing, sculpture and other types of art that make the island a special place and the carvings have also developed into a well-known trademark of Bali. The sculptures represented most different themes from mythology, masks, animals, flowers or other objects and it is particularly popular to work with materials such as wood or stone and the different shapes give the works of art a very special flair with high recognition value. Even when it comes to the production of everyday objects such as furniture such as chairs or tables, stylish ornaments or a interesting depth are often integrated into the works and this form of art already has a centuries-old tradition behind it. The carvings are mainly made by hand and are absolutely unique pieces and also in architecture traces of this art form can often be seen and also cultural objects such as masks or figures that are used for ritual purposes as in well-known Wajang cult are made of wood. The great level of detail of the different motifs has led to the fact that a large market around the various carvings has emerged and it is also of great importance for the tourism industry and in addition, many of these works are also exported to other countries and are offered at fair prices.
