A Sweet Gift From My Sister..... and painty paper continued

in art •  4 months ago
Even though I am continuing to share some of my painty journey (are you tired of reading the word PAINTY yet??) ha ha .... well.... I could say collage a billion times instead I suppose, but that word is not nearly as fun to say as PAINTY !!
My painty paper share for today was short(er) and in keeping something else a little different going on, I thought I'd first share a sweet shabby angel my younger sister Jan made for me. In her young adulthood, she didn't care a lot about crafting OR cooking, but somewhere midlife, she began to cook like crazy, trying new things and handmaking things. Her hubby built her a new house in the last couple of years and she has it all "farmhoused" up with many things she has made herself. I have to say, that she has done a great job.
Anyway, my birthday was back in January and she told me she was making me a present, but at the time needed her hubby to help her with one last part on it. Then... I totally forgot about it. When my sisters, sis-in=loves and Mom got together last Saturday, she gave it to me and I am so happy with it. I think she did a fine job.

She loves to thrift shop as do I. She wrapped a styro ball in the page of a hymnal and gave it an old door knob halo.

She also added this sweet little bell.

The base isn't from something old though, I know because it still had some sort of tag on the bottom (not that it matters at all !).... it wasn't the price though, just "made in" somewhere.

For now, he's sitting on the top of my piano so I can enjoy him frequently. Later, when he is not so new, I will put him in my bedroom which is a quieter place, with no bold color paintings screaming from every direction. LOL ..... He will fit perfectly in there.

NOW.... to a little bit of painty stuff. 😊
In playing in my fun paints and papers again, I decided to make a few simple whole sheets that although muli-colored, were not so busy as some of the smaller papers I made. I thought sometime I might need a bigger piece here or there in the background of something and so it makes sense to paint some up.
I started out doing a little design for the background, not much.

Then I put dots of a different color and dragged the paint down the page over top of it with one of my rubber scrapper/spreaders.

    What a mess... right ?

    😉 Yeah... I know !

Like before, I'm trying not to post too many photos of every little change, so it won't get too tedious to look at.

I actually did the same type of process on nearly all of them, trying to keep some similar colors in parts of most of them.

Oops, one got left out of the group shot. I didn't want it to be jealous, so here it is. LOL

    ....and one more arty shot.

I didn't spend a lot of time on them, but it was still fun. I've got to get something to lay the wet pieces on while they dry, so they won't take up half my table going forward. On youtube, one lady said she used a vinyl shower curtain to lay in the floor to put hers on. I thought that was really smart. You can get them pretty cheap I'm thinking half of one would be big enough for me, so when I get one, I'll have a backup!
I've had a good week and it's newly into the weekend right NOW ! More time for more fun... Yahooo !
Hope life is treating you well.
    Love ya !
