It's easy to photograph any thaw: puddles and ice are everywhere, and there is practically no snow. This state of nature is not typical of any season. If warming occurs in late autumn, the fallen snow immediately melts, leaving nothing behind.
If there is a natural warming at the end of winter, then in theory there is a lot of snow and it melts gradually, first turning into porridge.
Well, in April, everything dries up, and the remaining snow looks dirty.
A warm winter is immediately visible, and with a positive temperature swing, ice forms.
All the snow that has fallen turns into a thin, even layer of ice, and water forms on top of it.
I saw this a couple of times when I was a kid, when it suddenly started raining in winter and everything was covered with ice.
The river also shows itself differently.
A layer of water also appears on the surface of the ice, so much so that sometimes it is not clear if there is ice under the water.
There is a damp haze all around...but for some reason there are no fogs.
There is a lot more dirt and dust in spring.
But if I had happened to arrive at this time from another time, I would not have been able to determine what month it is now.
I would call it April. Birds sing like in spring, it smells the same.
In November, everything is somehow more gray, dark and dirty.
And also in late autumn and even before winter, there are still bald patches of yellow leaves on trees and grass.
And now the kidneys are swelling.
Everything points to spring. There will be no winter this year.
There won't be those giant black snowdrifts that were there last spring.
There have been different Feb's in my life...mostly boring ones.
It was an interesting Februaries, with a lot of snow. I will remember this February for a long time.
