Hello, beer lovers! π»
How are you? Even though it's March, the weather here is quite April-like, as we say - very dynamic every day, sun, rain, wind, sun again and rain again, and so on. There is nothing to do on the ground because it is too wet, but I had other commitments; I was on the road often, one day in Ljubljana, another day in Izola, and once in Rijeka.
And when I'm driving, it's inappropriate to drink beer... unless... it's alcohol-free.
I'm not a fan of non-alcoholic beers, but sometimes the situation, for example, if you're driving a car, is just right for a beer like this.
So today, for #beersaturday 404, I have a slightly different beer tasting: two cans of non-alcoholic beers, one Austrian and one Spanish.
Bewog Woo Alcohol-Free
Brewed by Bewog Brewery, Bad Radkersburg, Steiermark Austria.
I tasted this beer in Ljubljana while lunching with my older son. He wanted a burger and told me where to go; Hood Burger was crowded. The burger was good.
Well, beer first :)
Non-alcoholic beer is different from the usual. The first moment you take a sip, you taste - yes, it's beer, with all the bitterness of hops or the sweetness of malt, depending on the type of beer - but the next moment, it becomes watery, and you know it's non-alcoholic.
I haven't seen exactly what it's supposed to be, but the bitterness makes it taste "like" a Pale Ale.
The best thing is having some food with it, but the difference isn't so noticeable. Woo Alcohol-Free was still quite enjoyable, along with the Hood Burger, which was great :)
Estrella Free Damm lager
The next day, I was in Izola taking my younger son for a medical check-up. When he finished, we visited a Chinese restaurant called Chang in Koper.
Their only non-alcoholic beer was Free Damm, brewed by Estrella Damm in Barcelona, Spain.
The beer was pale orange and clear. It was sipped quite smoothly down the throat. It was a little bitter, and the taste was watery and shallow. A non-alcoholic lager.
Well, like the previous one, it was edible with food.
I had Mongolian beef, and that wasn't bad either.
I'll have to get used to, actually adapt to, non-alcoholic beers when I'm on a ride. Whatever we want, everything changes, and so do beers.
In the car, while driving, we listened this week to the artists I posted in the last
Fridays #newtunes. Everyday Magic is still ringing in my head. Maybe it will be a hit.
