In one of my previous blogs, I mentioned that I had not really kept myself up-to-date regarding the evolution of the HIVE network. It happens. In that same post, I mentioned that I was impressed by the improvements in the HIVE keychain. And I keep discovering new functions, like autostaking!
One of the joys I get from HIVE, is owning different tokens that payout either their own tokens or others. Examples would be the famous SPS, DRIP, BBH, INDEX, XV, SPI and many others. Please do let me know what your opinion is on all of them.
The joy is starting up my computer and having a look and all the deposits. Sometimes they are expected, such as SWAP.HIVE, SPS or DRIP. But sometimes that are weird ones, which I then end up going down a rabbit hole to understand.
An example would be BHRT, which is a Blockchain Horse racing game. No idea how I got them!
But it is tedious and not always worth the effort. In addition, if I'm on holiday and don't check them, you do lose out on compounding staking rewards. "Oh well" I always thought.
Untill today, when I was going through HIVE keychain settings and discovered autostaking. A great concept, especially for people that do not enjoy looking at each token they have and stake them.
The setting is a bit hidden, but let me guide you. I'm using version of the 3.7.10 and the settings may change for future version.
On your home screen, go to the 3 lines (hambuger symbol) which represents settings, in the top left.
On here, go to user operations:
Then Automated tasks:
Here is where I made the mistake and why I never discovered the setting. If you look at the items (and I'm still exploring what claim accounts does, if you know, please share), it just seems to be 3 settings to choose.
But you can scroll down! There isn't a scollbar to indicate this, but you can.
But you only see Hive Engine, nothing else. Thought it might be just a copyright text or something. But I was so wrong. I clicked on the arrow and then:
Wow. Not only can you autostake, but you can even specify which token you want to do it for. Very nice.
Big applause for the developers and I learned something new today. I hope you already know about it and have used it to your advantage.
Any other functions that you use quite often that I should know?
